Brett is Vice President, Corporate Development at CIBC. He identifies, assesses and executes strategic transactions (such as acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, partnerships and joint ventures) and other initiatives, including working with management from the bank’s lines of business and infrastructure groups to explore, develop and conduct due diligence and financial analysis on strategic initiatives. Brett also participates in the oversight of CIBC’s portfolio of strategic investments.
Brett has substantial experience originating and completing mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, equity investments and capital raisings transactions across a broad range of industries throughout Canada and the U.S. His experience includes more than 130 announced transactions with an aggregate value of $140 billion.
Prior to joining CIBC’s Strategy & Corporate Development group in November 2012, Brett was with CIBC’s merchant bank and CIBC’s investment bank.
He joined CIBC in June 2004 after working in investment banking with Citigroup in New York for six years.He graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University.
